Pre-order is necessary because it is the only way we can offer you this low price. Thank you for your patience and understanding. All mugs will be chosen randomly, and sizes vary about 14-18oz.

BULK ORDER: This listing is for a set of 8 Neon Cosmic Mugs. If you purchase more than one set (a set of 16, 24, 32, 40 or more mugs) then your order will ship in different boxes and you will get separate tracking numbers for each box of 8 mugs.

$37 price per mug (+ shipping and handling calculated based on your location) will remain for 37 days, starting from Joel Cherrico's 37th Birthday: May 10th, 2025. Therefore, these mugs will remain available at this price until June 16th, 2025.

If you're excited about getting a great deal on a Spiral Cosmic Mug, handmade by Joel Cherrico on his pottery kickwheel, this is for you. Colors, sizes and shapes vary slightly and will not match photos exactly, as every mug is unique. Sizes vary from about 14oz - 18oz, because Joel makes them by hand. Joel dips and brushes each mug with glazes, using his custom glaze chemistry. Kiln firing each mug to 2280 degrees F. creates abstract paintings of cosmic phenomena, permanently encapsulated in non-toxic, functional coffee mugs. Every Cosmic Mug is unique and can never be duplicated exactly.

This "Neon Cosmic Mug" was loosely inspired by colors and textures of the Crab Nebula, captured by NASA's James Webb Space Telescope in 2024. All Cosmic Mugs are handmade art inspired by our place in the cosmos. These mugs are meant to look and feel handmade, even imperfect, yet comfortable and useful.

SIMPLE, RECYCLABLE PACKAGING: Your mug will be packaged with simple, recyclable cardboard and paper. Our research in shipping over 50,000 pieces of Joel Cherrico Pottery over the past 10 years shows that the safest and most eco-friendly way to ship Cosmic Mugs is with recyclable paper and cardboard. Your pottery box and packing materials are 100% curbside recyclable. Your boxes will contain no special customization or adornment; just a simple Cosmic Mug, with a small brochure that describes how to wash and care for your mug.

ABOUT COSMIC MUGS: ARTIST STATEMENT BY JOEL CHERRICO

"I think of these mugs like abstract paintings of cosmic phenomena, that you can enjoy over a cup of coffee. Although new designs are constantly evolving, today my Cosmic Mugs are inspired by images captured by NASA’s Hubble Space Telescope and James Webb Space Telescope. Real images of deep space galaxy cloud clusters and nebula inspire my abstract glaze paintings over an "Oil Spot Black" base glaze, meant to reference the night sky."

COSMIC MUGS ARE:

  • Durable: Stoneware pottery is very hard and meant to last a lifetime.
  • Functional: 100% non-toxic and dishwasher safe.
  • Complex: Every mug is brushed with custom glaze chemistry.
  • Earthen: Raw silica, calcium, iron and other earth elements are transformed through kiln fire, 2200+ degrees Fahrenheit, to create non-toxic, food-safe surfaces.
  • One of a Kind: Each firing results in glazes that can never be duplicated exactly.
  • Handcrafted: Joel Cherrico crafts each pot from a lump of Stoneware clay on a pottery wheel. He creates consistent shapes that hold roughly a medium cup of coffee, about 14-18 ounces, since every Cosmic Mug is unique.
