*PROJECT ENDED* April, 2021. "Factory Made Cosmic Mugs" are SOLD OUT and not returning. Learn more in this blog post by Joel Cherrico:
Every "Cosmic Mug" is unique. Colorful glazes are inspired by images of galaxies and nebulae from NASA's Hubble Space Telescope. Potter Joel Cherrico worked with a factory to design mugs with remarkably complex glazes. All mugs match each other, but every individual mug has unique colors and textures. All Cosmic Mugs are 100% functional and food safe.
Low Price, High Quality
When a painter makes a one-of-a-kind painting, the original art needs to sell for a higher prices. But painters can also mass-produce prints, so more people get to experience their art for more affordable prices. This "Factory Made Cosmic Mug" is our version of a pottery print.
The reason why Joel Cherrico designed this mug was to create a version of his most popular "Handmade Spiral Cosmic Mug" that is of equality quality, but available at higher quantities and lower prices. This specific design is made in a factory in Shenzhen, China that Joel Cherrico has established a relationship with. He chose this factory because they also make pottery with a traditional "Oil Spot Black" glaze recipe, that has been used in Asia for centuries. Joel uses a slightly different Oil Spot glaze for his Handmade Spiral Cosmic Mug too. This Chinese Factory version of the "Cosmic Mug" glaze is so complex that Joel can't even duplicate it in his own pottery studio, but they are from the same family of glazes.
Every Chinese-made pot is marked on the bottom, "Made in China" directly underneath the Cherrico Pottery logo, to guarantee there is no confusion between mugs "Made in China" and mugs handcrafted by Joel Cherrico. Thank you for trusting us to explore this new project responsibly as it evolves over time, like with our decision put in extra effort to recycle nearly 100% of our packing materials.
All Cherrico Pottery, both handmade and factory made, is 100% non-toxic and mean to be used and enjoyed everyday. These mugs are made from porcelain clay, with an "oil spot" glaze in the same family of glaze as Joel Cherrico's "Handmade Spiral Cosmic Mug."

I love the mug...the colour combination is beautiful. Hard to believe it was made in China. It is another nice piece to add to my collection
This mug is absolutely beautiful! Just as every other piece Joel and Sienna make are! The colors and quality are like no other mugs I’ve ever seen. I’m in love with every piece they produce!
Great piece of artwork that you can drink your tea or coffee out of every morning!
Love using my mugs/ cups and my boys love the factory cosmic mugs they got for a Christmas gifts thank you for sharing your process.
Quick delivery......incredible packing and the mug is gorgeous!
I never thought I'd be able to afford a piece of amazing art from Joel. However, him offering these factory produced mugs allows for me to own a piece of his without breaking the bank.
Bought this for myself for mother's day. Is by far my favorite mug for tea and coffee. I was fortunate enough to get it on sale as Cherrico anything is a pricey purchase for me. I admire the art and functionality of the mugs and will definitely add to my collection in the future.
We’ve always been a fan of the cosmic mugs and this is a nice affordable option to gift them to friends and family.
The base is a little narrow which reduces stability. It’s pretty especially in bright light the blues and black oil spots are great. The mug has a great feel it’s in my China cabinet I use it for weekend coffee. I wake at 4 am don’t want to knock it over.
I am very very pleased with my mug,I would buy more if I could. Very happy with craftmanship and quality of work that went into it. Plus I get to show my mug off to everyone that it's a Cherrico Pottery piece designed by Joel.
While the factory made mug has the shape of Cherrico Pottery’s handmade mugs, the glaze is stunning. I love the Iridescence of the oil spot glaze. The fact that they are more affordable than the hand-thrown cosmic mugs. It is still unlike anything you will find in a big box store and a beautiful piece of pottery.
I’m loving the porcelain Cosmic Mug! It holds just as much as the larger hand-made mug, and it’s just as sparkly... but it fits in my car’s cup holder.
You can tell it's not an original Pot Man mug but its pretty. I like the gold in it. Not as heavy and solid. I like the way the original feels in my hand, the weight is comforting.
