Taste the Universe everyday from one of the most intricate mugs on the planet. "Meteorite Mugs" are inspired by the gnarly textures and shapes of the Willamette Meteorite, located in the American Museum of Natural History. I think of these mugs as abstract sculptures that you can drink from daily.
The carvings in the surface of this pot resemble the process of ablation, which happens when a meteorite plummets through Earth's atmosphere. Pieces of the space rock are melted and chipped off from friction. I carved textures into this pot to resemble the textures commonly found in meteorites.
Functional
All of our Stoneware and porcelain pottery is 100% food and dishwasher safe. Meteor pottery, including Meteoriod Cups and Meteorite Mugs, are made with Copper metal colorant and should not be microwaved. Microwaving these pots would be similar to a mild form of microwaving a piece of silverware. Do not microwave this pot.
